The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to formally declare our independence as a nation. In the declaration of independence our forefathers expressed the reasons why they felt they had to finally break away from England. They listed all of their grievances in the doent. Ultimately, the founding fathers wanted to break away from King George's abuse of power. The Articles of Confederation showed that they were trying to avoid having a monarch by not having a head of the government. The articles of confederation called for a legislative branch and gave them very few powers. Most powers belonged to the states. All of this was to avoid abuse of power.
