Any ideas for a mature and upscale but fun and cheap bridal shower?

I am throwing a bridal shower for my mom. She's 46. I am inviting 15 people and it will probably be a tea or brunch at a hotel. My price limit is around $1000 and $700 of that has already gone for the venue and food. Any ideas for fun but cheap activities at the shower? I don't want people to just sit around. Thanks!
