I need some help with my printer!?

Ok so I need some help with my printer. It seems that every time I print something the words come out not dark and almost unreadable. Is there a way to fix it so I can print better quality images? (It does the same thing for words to) I am using a Dell 720. I only print stuff up for school and don't print everything I find interesting on the net.
