Try using lots of positive reinforcement when he's behaving well. If he gets attention for behaving well, he's likely to do more of this to get more attention from you. Also do your best to keep your cool when he misbehaves and give him logical consequences that are connected to his actions. Like making him help clean up a mess he's made instead of making him stand in the corner.
