What's going on in my mouth??

My mouth has been hurting on the side for a few days now (since friday). At first I thought it was a wisdom tooth growing in but when I actually touched it it wasn't a tooth at all. It's just an area that really hurts. I've been using orajel and advil to relieve some of the pain and it helps a little...I just wish it would go away though. It hurts to eat and some times talking is diffucult. Also the side of my mouth that it's on is swollen. I haven't been able to go to the dentist because my dentist is "on spring break"...(I didn't know they got those). If it doesnt go away within the next 1 or 2 days I'll have to see someone because it's a really nagging pain. So what do you guys think this is? A canker sore, abscest ? And what can I do to get rid of it. Please help and thanks so much.
