Is there anyway that I can get my student loans deferred for an additional six months?

Hi, I am a non-traditional student (prior military) who is currently living in Colorado who DOES NOT want to live here in this state any longer. The only reason that I moved out here was because I needed a place to live (I moved in with my sis and now ex brother in law) after I got out of the Marine Corps. So, do you all think that the U.S. Dept of Education would work with me if I were to move back home to Charlotte, NC, worked for a year doing retail to regain in state status, and returned to college at UNC or any of their satellite campuses. Folks, I've simply had it with the sheer arrogance that I have experieced amongst the people here in Colorado Springs. I'll keep this short, but I have found it d*mn near impossible to make friends here because everybody acts so snooty and stuck up here. Since the women here are just as stuck up and cliquish as the men are here, I haven't been able to find NOT one g/f since moving here a few years ago DESPITE being a friendly mannered person from the southeast. In my humble opinion, Colorado Springs is just as bad for single guys as Jacksonville, NC/Camp Lejeuen was.
